You completely lost me. You must be one of the genetic whiz's on here. I bought the roo initially for my black/blue/lavender breeding program. What type if any would you breed him to? I'm planning on keeping him separate from my other pairings because I don't want this gold to show up again, if at all possible.
I'm sorry. I basically said much the same as most of the others.....I think he's black with leakage. The leakage happens when a black bird does not have enough blackening genes (melanisers) to make him properly black.
As it happens I was wrong anyway. He's not extendedblack at all. I keep forgetting that black cochins have to have yellow legs & are what is known as eb black.
Even so he has still has serious leakage (is lacking blackening genes).
I don't know what you are aiming for. If you want good solid color blacks/blues or lavenders, then I shouldn't use him at all, because he will pass the problem on to his offspring. If he has great type (I'm not a cochin person) he might be useful for a different project.
