Cochin pic....what kind is he?

It looks more like a black that is leaking gold coloring tho I doubt he's Brown Red...

I totally agree, it looks like a black with off color in the neck.

I'd ask Krys or Henk, but that's a birchen wing pattern. He could be split for gold, in which case he's not quite Brown Red aka Gold Birchen and is not Silver Birchen the other pic shown.

Leakiness has a tendency to pollute other places in the wings and body mass. Breast/back wing tips, vent area, etc.

At least that's been my experience with the ones that leaked red as opposed to those that were Birchen based.

Yeah, I doubted he was...

Is the BR yours? He is handsome. I love bantam cochins I just do not want to mess with feathered feet.

Yes he is

So is the birchen

(they are both forsale)

I've a brown red Sizzle, so I sort of figured. And the indeterminant form of birchen can look like that washed out gold color.

The determinant forms are BrownRed aka Gold birchen and Silver birchen, the middle form is golden birchen, washed out and split for silver and gold.

Happens with quite a few color combinations.

Imo, the OPs bird is extended black lacking melanisers, thus leakage, heterozygous silver gold.

Someone as asking about a brown-red? Not a great pic. can't see his breast properly. He appears to have a black wing triangle which indicates E or ER? Is that a black wing triangle? But his neck hackles look rather free from black markings which is not so usual from either of those e-alleles. Gold on breast I'd think not E. I'd hazzard a big guess at ER/eWh?

You completely lost me. You must be one of the genetic whiz's on here. I bought the roo initially for my black/blue/lavender breeding program. What type if any would you breed him to? I'm planning on keeping him separate from my other pairings because I don't want this gold to show up again, if at all possible.
