Hello I have a black cochin mix 3/4 cochin 1/4 silkie. She's going to be 16 weeks this thursday. Her wattles have gotten a lot bigger starting 3 weeks ago, but she doesn't crow and her comb has stayed relatively flat. Sorry for the first picture being blurry she's always on the move. The last photos are feathers from her back near the base of her tail.

Good news! Looks Like a Pullet. The feathers are not long and pointed like a boys. 3 of my girls have pretty green sheens to their feathers.

Erm.... That red leakage that's popping out says cockerel. So does the fact that the wattles started popping out big a bunch of weeks ago.
The comb is relatively big as well. Flat, because its a walnut comb, but still large. The sheen doesn't mean much, all black feathers of both genders will sheen... what does the saddle look like? You don't have to do pics that close, but can you take a pic of that area please?

Well, turns out that it was a boy. Caught him crowing. Now we need to find him a home. Can't have too many roosters. Thank you for the replies.

Sorry to barge in, but can you tell if the darker cochin here is a roo? They are about 14 weeks old I think. It was much smaller than the gold laced as a chick, and was, and still very slow the feather out. But that comb and waffles are looking suspicious....

cockerel. The red leakage, saddle feathers and the comb and wattles say male.
