We have 5 breeds of chickens, and we've fallen in love with our Giant Blue Cochin pullets! We love them so much, we were thinking of getting a cockerel. We are curious what they are like, the pullets are so sweet and non-aggressive. Any experiences with them you'd like to share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, the large fowl boys are just big adorable lumps! I've never heard of anyone having issues with the bigg'uns. The bantams can have snotty personalities occasionally, though.

That's what we were hoping to hear! Our girls are so sweet, we have all fallen in love with them. We like them so well, we are thinking of breeding them. They are so different from our other breeds,

YEP!!! What they said!

We have two banty's that would like to kill each other! One is nice towards us...one not so nice! BUT...we also have a giant cochin roo who is a doll baby! He is the most passive sweet boy and GREAT with me and my kiddos! He's so GINORMOUS that everyone comments on him!!! My vote is GO FOR IT!!

I've had several cochin roos and most have been easy-going, but this past summer, our big white cochin rooster took a dislike to me. He would attack me from the front or from behind (while gathering eggs). Don't know what happened that changed his attitude. I eventually rehomed him. Our big black boy is totally laid back.

We are so encouraged by your input, all of you. We were going to put our Black Jersey Giant roo in with them (he is so sweet), but it woul be fun to let one of the Cochins go broody and have little Cochins. The BJG and GBC mix might be a little strange!

I had a white cochin roo named Big Papa that I called my lap chicken. He used to come when I would call him and he used to hop up in my lap! He was so sweet and gentle. I would share a picture of him but I still don't know how. I'm sure there is somewhere on here to learn how to do that, I'll have to try and figure that out.

I am sure if you got a cochin roo you would love him!
