Cochin Roosters and breeding

I have been told by two people that Cochin Roosters can not fertilize eggs and that they need "assistance". i have never heard of such a thing and cannot find it anywhere on the internet. Is this a wive's tale??

Since both cochin hens and roosters have such heavily feathered butts it can be very difficult for them to make 'contact' when mating. Denuding the area around their vents by plucking feathers MAY increase their success. Why plucking rather than clipping? Think irritating stubble.
