Need help.
Bought a “satin hen” Cochin silkie bantam. I think her color is mottled black and white but appears barred in some places??
Breeder said she is 6 months and is laying eggs. I’ve had her and her sisters for a week with no eggs.
Her wattle and crown are very bright red.
could she be mixed with something other then silkie and Cochin? Her crown appears to be a pea or something different.
Any thoughts on approx age?
thanks in advance.

The stress of moving to a new home can disrupt laying. Also that breed mix would likely produce a bird that only laid about three times a week anyway. Looks like a cochin silky mix to me but I've never seen one barred or mottled on that pattern personally.

Okay. Yes the lady had a bunch of different colors even a full barred one that looked just like mine but very bearded. Is there anything I should do to persuade her to lay? Does she look like she should be laying already?

Rhodebar Lover is 100% correct! She'll settle in soon, and if she wasn't laying just yet she definitely will be very soon. She's adorable by the way 😍
Ah great thank you. I specially picked her out by her look and the bright red coloring. It’s only been a few days so hopefully I’ll get something. She was in a pen with a Cochin rooster and a silkie rooster. So was hoping for some fertile eggs from her. My other 2 do not have red combs. One has black single comb and one has bright yellow face with very pale small red comb.

This bird is beautiful! 😍 I am getting a cockerel vibe from it though? 🤷‍♀️
Tried to get a real close look at the saddle area, but difficult telling in the photo due to the feather pattern, but I think I see pointy saddle feathers. I could very well be wrong, and that would be awesome.😊
And yes, I read the breeder says she was laying already, but not all breeders are truthful as we know.

Oh yes. Thank you.
her feathers are all very rounded in the saddle area and short in length. Compared to the roosters in her pen her size and their neck feathers were so long they were to the floor. LOL. There was a big difference.
