cochin with limp leggs

About 3 weeks ago my 8 month cochin girl was doing well then one day she started to trip for no reason, after a week she was no longer walking, for 2 weeks she's been just laying on her side hasn't laid eggs since everything started. She seems to be dropping weight she is eating and drinking still. I wonder if i need to put her out of her misery.

Sounds like Mareks to me unfortunately. I personally cull if I don't see any improvements after a week or two. Some may recommend vitamins, but I don't generally have any luck with that route.

Welcome to BYC! I agree with @oldhenlikesdogs , it does sound like Marek's. It could be something else, but it's usually Marek's. Where do you live?

I live in colorado outside the city in a small ranch.

so.... i just had to put her out of her pain. it was quick and painless for her. she started to have a hard time breathing like bronchitis. thank you for your help.

Sorry for your loss. If you would like to get confirmation of Mareks, since it can affect your other chickens in the future, you can refrigerate the body, and send it on ice packs in to your state vet or poultry lab to get a necropsy and ask for Mareks testing.

I think they are okay I removed her 3 weeks ago and the rest look good.
