Thank you all! And Onyx sounds good. My husband thinks I'm silly with all my names so I'm sure he will laugh at that one
Firearia- here's the lucky story!
Group #1 chicks 18, 13 died. The 5 that were left = 4 roos and 1 hen. I will never buy from that person again who has a reputation for sick chicks but I didn't know that! Kept 2 roos, ate the other 2
Group #2 8, 1 eaten randomly?, 4 roos, 3 hens - rehomed roos except one cause he is a silkie and the hens are silkies too
This left us with 2 roos, 1 laying hen and silkies which we don't count LOL They are cute but that's about it
Group #3 6, bought at 5-6 weeks old so that the person could help us try to get some hens. So far it looks like it worked (the other two are barred rocks so I think we can tell those pretty well)
If this turns out well then I think I would buy older chicks in the future....oh wait, I'm building an incubator
