Here is a blue Cochin bantam from Ideal.
Ashley
This is Goldie, a gold frizzle Cochin pullet, also from Ideal
Smokey who is the blue cockerel, is also from Ideal, looking at her.
Another better shot of Ashley, as you can see, he has bright yellow feet, extremely shiny feathers, and even coloring throughout. He could have better type, but for a hatchery bird, I think he's good enough. He has bright orange eyes. Very handsome bird.
Both Ashley and Smokey are the only 2 males of the original 4 I kept because their temperaments are the nicest.
This is the original gang of 4.
A day after this photo was taken, Onyx and Ashely started to fight for the first time. They became bloody and wouldn't stop, so I had to separate the gang.
Ivory, a pullet from Ideal too.
Just for comparison sake, I bought a Cochin bantam pullet from a show breeder, and I could see the vast difference in type.
This is Dottie. Her type is excellent and so round, and her feathering is so profuse, she is covered in mud up to her belly when she free ranges now. We love her so much.
My experience with Ideal Cochin bantams is that, they arrived healthy, all 7 of them out of 10. 2 were DOA and they gave me 1 short. The 7 that did arrive were sweet and friendly. They are some of my favorites in my flock now.
