Hi everyone , i have 2 standard golden cochin hens. they are free range in a very big garden. we use them for eggs but now both of them have gone broody , they r showing all the signs of being broody but they have no eggs under them and have been siting on their nesting for about a month now and they r still broody. they just sit there but there are no eggs under them .
how do i make them to stop being broody and return to normal. because i miss colecting eggs from them.

Option one is you can give them some eggs, and in twenty one day's you'll have babies and then in a few more weeks she will lay eggs again. Option two is what's sometimes called a sin bin or a broody box. It's a rather small cage where they only have room to sit and stand and move a little and it is constantly lighted. You can just place a house bulb in a brooder clamp and place that over the cage, making sure they don't get to hot, that's why it has to be a low wattage house bulb. Then in a few days to a few weeks the light actually forces there body to lay eggs again. I hope I helped some!

Hello and welcome....so glad you joined BYC

I have cochins too and 8 out of 11 of them are broody :( That is very common for cochins, unfortunately.

I have read a few suggestions on here for breaking them of the broodiness, but its been too long ago. Try typing something like that in the search bar at the top.

Good luck to you
