I had three blue and three splash Cochin babies. They are three months now. I have lost two of the blue Cochins and a splash is not looking very good today. I do not understand the problem? They all did well from the start. I lost a blue at about two months old. I realized it felt rather thin under the fluff. I just lost another blue this week so about three months old, and again, it felt thin. Now, a splash is going downhill. I bought these from an individual, who has the adults running around their yard, looking nice and healthy. I have never wormed any of my chickens before, and I have never had any problems. They do not seem to be ill, no respiratory issues. They have been in their own pen along with two Polish that I also purchased from the same person. A friend of mine said that his sister stopped breeding her Cochins because she had difficulty keeping them alive. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I live in Central Georgia. They were started on a 20% feed, then they were fed a 24%.
