Cochins: Which shade of blue?

I've seen a really wide range of shades of blue. Mine are very dark, almost black and personally I admire the medium shades.

Is there a preferred color of blue according to a standard, or a preference for show birds?

The color of the Blue Andalusian is the most sought after. Several people call it "Andalusian Blue" but in reality...it's just the color blue.
