Cochins won't go up ramp or roost!

I just give them roost options, so they can choose how high to roost. They usually start a foot off the ground, and gradually work their way up to the highest one they can find space on. Queen bees get the best spots.

It's good to know our Cochins aren't the only goofy ones out there. We will try putting them on the roosts. They seem to be afraid to try new things, I guess calling someone "chicken" has some basis in reality!

Happy holidays and thanks for all your responses!

It hard getting around when they can't see your feet and toes

My two Cochins have a harder time getting down off the roost than up, so I built twice as many steps on their roost ladder. Yes, they have a ladder

Silly Cochin chickens for sure, but you won't find me helping them into the coop or up on the roost. They spent a couple of nights out in the run before they decided that they better put themselves to bed

Give them a little more time and they will figure it out...

My cochin always has to be on the highest roost... and she is ALWAYS the scaredy cat and is always the last one off in the morning.
