Cockatiel died, partner freaking out. How to sooth him?

He's still got the screams today. :( He won't come out of his cage either. He's very clingy still. I'd carry him around with me if he would let me.

I feel bad. I'm not sure how to comfort the guy. A human I can hug. A cat I can snuggle. Try to touch him and you'll lose an arm.

Try playing music for him. My tiel loves country music and will even dance to it. Or how about a new toy to distract him? Have you tried a mirror?

We sadly had our aviary blow over in a thunderstorm (it must've been hit by a whirlwind or something as it had withstood many strong winds) and we lost both our cockatiel hens. One boy was still in the aviary as it lay on its side so I could grab him in the dark and the other boy I found the next morning, but the girls were gone. Those boys called and called and called (as did I), all day for about a week. They were very upset and flighty, wondering where their mates had gone. Giles will be doing the same thing, calling for Jazzie, wondering where she is and why she isn't replying, why she isn't coming back. He will settle down eventually, he's just confused, poor boy. :hugs
