Cockatiel gender - Help!

I find that the pinker the beak means that they are younger :) I'll post some pics of Jay when I get on my computer tonight. :)

Here's Jay! I got him in May from a local breeder. You can see on his face the dull 'mask' that makes him look female, but I was told by the breeder that he was definitely a male. He sings ALL day.
His colouring is actuall a lot brighter, like yours, but curse my iPod's rubbish camera... I'm hoping to have him breed with his already close friend Tia, my split-pied female.

From what I have researched the only way to be 100% sure is DNA testing. There is also surgically sexing but I am not a fan of this invasive procedure. Are you trying to breed?

No I had I e as a child for 16 years to he exact and Charlie talked and did tricks. Our dog disappeared and I stead of getting another dog for my children I thought they would love a bird but really wanted a boy for them so they could experience what I got to.

Oh I see. Well if you're not breeding you can just assume its a boy unless eggs are laid. I have heard that DNA sexing is pretty cheap but I don't know for sure on that. I know you can do it with blood or a feather. Surgically sexing only takes a few minutes but your bird is put under gas for it. I personally won't do surgically because birds are known to not handle respiratory irritation well. Sometimes you can get a good idea by the feel of their pelvic bones but that's not 100%.
