I've separated him from the rest of the flock to prevent him getting picked on. My birds were treated with a few rounds of ivermectin only a month or so ago, so I can't imagine this is from mites. But I also haven't the faintest how he managed to injure the dorsal side of each accessory metatarsus. He lives with only his hens, no other cocks. Any ideas?

That’s from kicking the wires of the pen he is in. Do you have any other roosters outside of the pen?

It is really? I've never seen him go after another rooster before. I do have other roosters adjacent but this guy very chill and sure of himself. My other birds do spar occasionally but I've never seen this guy go at it.

What's a good solution? Should I board up the run to break line of sight?

Yes boarding it up so he can’t see him at ground level will solve the problem.
