Cockerel chicks

What do you do with cockerel chicks? as I am thinking of breeding the silkies but do not want cockerels.

Well you will need them if you intend on breeding them but otherwise here are some ideas.

1. Put a post on Craig's List or Facebook in your local trading/buying website. Take a picture and ask for a price or ask to trade for a pullet or hen.

2. Offer it to the local 4-H, or Boys and Girls Club.

3. Butcher it. Even Silkies can make a good broth/stock.

4. If you know someone with chickens they would probably love another if they are free. I know I would take practically any chickens for free.
