Tired old Rooster
Songster
I was wondering if anyone else has this sort of thing going on. I have a cockerel and three pullets, one of which has started laying.
Whenever it is time for the pullet to lay an egg, he goes with her into the coop and stands like a guard at the ramp door, while she lays her egg. I have noticed, that whenever I add some material to the nest, he first goes into the nest. Then a few minutes of conversation goes on in there, while he stomps around in the nest, before he steps out and takes his guard post, while she lays her egg. He seems very attentive to the whole process.
