Cockerel living situation

Shimmie's new digs are almost done! Still need to build a shutter for that back window. Total overkill if it's just going to be one cockerel, but I guess that gives me options for the future, haha! (All covered with 1/2" hardware cloth, with an apron)

I was hesitating and feeling a bit guilty about moving him, but after watching him pick on *everyone* this evening, he was lucky that he only got moved. Darn testosterone.

Yes, they can be so unpleasant! In my opinion, a group of cockerels or roosters living in a bachelor pad have hit the jackpot and have a good quality of life. If you want to add a rooster back to the flock later, older roosters tend to mellow and may not be as hard on your girls as a hormone-driven cockerel!
