I believe the males spurs are larger though which also helps tell the difference.
This is a pullet. As an adult, the spurs are about 2.5". She's a Welsummer and has had a nice, long laying life so it's not a hormonal issue as I was told back when I first shared this pic and asked about it. I believe it's a hereditary trait because I selected 4 Welsummer pullets from the same source and all 4 grew spurs like this but laid normally.
