hey everyone! this is my barred plymouth rock baby, in the first pic he/she was 6 weeks old. the second pic he/she was 5 weeks old. do you think cockerel or pullet? ive always thought he was a boy

you will know for sure in about 3 to 4 months of age when it will start crowing or not.

Looks like a Barred Rock pullet!! A cockerel would have less barring and it's more of a grey color.

It isn't screaming boy to me yet. Post again around 8 weeks.

yea i've been sitting here looking at comparison photos and i can see the lighter color in the males! very cool!

It's really hard to tell at this age. I suspect cockerel because of the size of the comb, but then again he or she does not appear to be getting cockerel-like tail feathers or a red comb and wattles.

i agree! the lack of redness throws me off!
