I have had chickens for about three years. I only have a few; my "flock" went from two to four. For the first time, I have cockroaches in m coop. I live in the country around pine trees and an occasional one gets in the house. Should I be alarmed?

Thank you; from what i have read, as long as it dries it won't be harmful to my chirpies. I will order some right now.depends on what they are ..if theyre the 'ground' roaches - big, black, wingless - they have a pungeant odor if disturbed and chickens wont eat them .. they arnt really a threat but they can multiply quite rapidly and grow very large with a constant source of food water and shelter in the coop .. to the point they can spread out and try to move in the house with you, unnerving anyway .. theyre really quite intelligent and social for roaches though in their defense and otherwise do little damage .. but if theyre a problem i would clean every thing and everybody out of the coop including food and watering devices, nest boxes emptied and everything, and spray it from top to bottom, inside out and underneath with bifen .. let it dry well before reassembling and setting up .. wont affect the birds at all and will kill any bug living in or around the coop and keep them away for several months .. i'd be sure to go around your house and eves t, because like i said, those ground roaches are intelligent and the survivors that get out will be moving in with you if you dont ..
