I live in northern Minnesota, it can easily get down to -30 F on any day during the winter. if I had a heated coup could the birds survive the winter up here?

A couple of more questions.

We have a lot of predators, Fishers, Foxes, Coyotes, Bob Cats, Links, Wolves, Bears. Can they keep themselves safe from these?

We are in the middle of 21 acres of woods near a river, how far do they usually travel?

It gets down to -30°F here. My guineas do fine in their non-heated coop. Heating the coop prevents them from developing good deep feathers to protect them from the cold.

Guineas can only protect themselves from predators during the daytime. To keep them safe at night they need to be inside a secure coop. The recommended protection from bears is to use electric fencing where you want to keep the bears away from.

Can’t say anything about cold weather as I’m from Texas.

But on the predator front... I’ve lost 3 to a bobcat... two in the pen before I realized we had a bobcat problem and one in broad daylight by the bobcat which I wasn’t prepared for. There’s no easy way to protect them if they’re free ranging. I’m on 38 acres and they stay within a 5-7 acre range. I just try to know where they are and listen for lots of noise and check on them.
