Hi There,

I have a 10 month old White Leghorn girl who has been making weird whining-like exhales. She kinda sounds goose-like. I have separated her from her two friends, whom were attacking her, by the way. I got some antibiotic powder from the feed store called "Tetracycline"and gave it to all three of my gals in their water. It has been four days and she seems better. I know to continue the meds. in water for 10 days. When can I let her back with her friends? Will the other birds continue to attack her?
Gettin desperate, Vicky

If she has been sepparated from the flock for a few days then there may be friction between them. To lessen it, introduce her at night. That way when they wake up she will be there already. Chickens will sometimes attack an injured/weak/sick flock member because having the weak bird around will increase the chances of a predator showing up.
