My husband just found our 3 year old female Rhode Island Red, Reba, laying on her side. She is extremely lethargic. Her legs seemed uninjured so I tried to stand her up but she couldn't stay up herseIf. She can hardly keep her eyes open. I can't see any injury except that there is a bone that seems out of place between her legs and well beneath her breast bone, so its not that. I opened her mouth and it is full of stringy phlegm. She won't eat anything but I am going to try to rinse her mouth out and see if I can get her to drink. I didn't notice anything unusual yesterday and the other eight birds all seem fine now. Any ideas about what may be going on with her or what I could try would be much appreciated. We only realized her condition an hour ago and I'm not sure she is going to make it through the night. Thank you for any advice.
