Collecting my quail!

Hello,

I'm picking up my quail on Sunday and I've got a cardboard pet carrier to bring them home in. Can anyone advise me if I should put something in the box with them for the journey, or if they need some hay put down or something???

depends on how far you are going and how warm your car is. if you dont feel comfortable with it you can purchase some hand warmers for them.

I have no experience with quail but when I go to pick up chicks I always make sure the seat heating is on when I put the cardboard box on the heated front seat. It settles them down nicely and they stop the incessant chirping almost immediately. I would probably put some straw or hay in the box so that they can make themselves cozy. If it is a very long trip I would also provide food and water.

I picked up some 2 hours from home. Aside from a smelly car the birds were fine.

I picked some up and had them out for a couple hours in a cardboard box, it was a nice day and they were fine!
