Colloidal Silver for Chickens???

Thank you for the input on the colloidal silver. I got 5 hens about ten days ago & I also noticed one is sneezing. Other than that, no sign of illness... laying eggs, free-ranging and eating fine. Am going to add a tad bit to the water & see if I notice any difference.
I am new to this chicken stuff and have learned a LOT from this site.

Is this thread still active? I do not see a recent post... i have only had success in dealing with bumblefoot directly. You must remove the pus pocket. There are many videos on www.youtube.com on how to. If you are not inclined to caring for a bloody scene and you still need help ... maybe a vet?

Thankyou I will try this as I was not sure of dose for chickens. Have 3 young chickens at 6 weeks with one showing signs of beginning of illness.

I agree with Fractal, I have used it with immediate success I might add. I rescued 4 black sexlinks and one of them started sneezing with congestion right after releasing them from quarentine. As a newbie chicken mom, I was scared she had infected the whole flock. I believe in not using antibiotics as less as possible...so, I grabbed my silver shield, added 2 teaspoons to a gallon of their water plus 2 teaspoons of avc for 5 days and her sneezes and congestion was totally gone and has not returned! None of the rest of my flock ever showed signs of what she might have had either..Since then I use 1/2 teaspoon daily in their water.
Do you remember what ppm your silver was?
