I am wanting to produce more blue reds. This is what I have to work with. Pair of blue reds, trio of birchens, pair of blacks, and 2 brown red hens. What would be the best breeding plan other than blue red on blue red?

are blue reds just Brown Reds with the blue gene? or black breasted red with the blue gene?

let say they are the first

just breed them to brown reds and you will produce 50% blue reds and 50% brown reds.

you can also breed the blue red rooster over the Birchen hen to produce 50% blue red hens and 50% brown red hens.

Was hoping that would be the case. I have a birches hen with the blue red rooster and will add a brown red hen to the mix.

Would like other opinions as well.

Have been trying to use an online chicken calculator but I don't understand the genotypes of the varieties enough to choose the parents to predict offspring colors. Any help to learn genotype a would be appreciated as well.

My understanding is that the genetics are the same for all breeds, OEG bantam.
