Thanks for all the input. And thanks for the link to the Ameraucana website! I knew that the Auracana was a true pure breed and didn't think we could get them in the States, so we had Ameraucana's here. I also think that the EE should be recognized as a breed. Surely there are enough similarities in them to qualify as a breed and not just cross bred chickens. Changing the spellings from Americana, Ameraucana, etc. almost seems deceptive to those who are inexperienced and are hoping to get a specific breed and in reality, are not.

With all the experience on this forum, perhaps we could come up with some standard for EE's and help stop all the confusion?

There are pure Araucana's here in the states. They are very rare though. I know of a few breeders here on BYC that work with them. They have a lethal gene if not bred properly, so you really have to do your research on them.
