Color of project bird

Others on the forum are more expert but I'll guess.
on the surface it looks like black patterned gold -necked/birchen E^R/e+?
but I'd guess it's Extended black with gold leaking through
What color was the Cochin?

I do not remember what the breeder told me, I should have wrote it down! And I don't know what color the parents are. Is it safe to say if she's bred to a golden rooster, she'd produce something golden?

Hrm, hybrids can be really unpredictable when it comes to their offspring.

When you say 'golden' do you mean buff? According to the chicken calculator, you'd end up with 50% fawn/dun patterned buffs, and 50% black patterned buff (black on top, buff on bottom).

well. I'm still not an expert, maybe nicalandia will chime in again.
but...golden usually means a heterozygous s+/S on male chromosomes
(half gold - half silver), rather than buff, when talking genetics
it can't happen in hens because they only have one Z and one W
If we are right and she's s+ you'd want silver to produce golden roos
as for duckwing... maybe she's half e+
maybe some of her chicks would express e+ rather than E^R
Maybe there are genes hiding out waiting to surprise you
cross breeds are a crapshoot but some of the surprises are good ones
play around with the chicken calculator

fun and educational and quicker than waiting for the next generation
