Color variations of ring necks

The vast majority of ring-necked pheasants here in the United States (I'm assuming you are from the US) are hybridized birds from various pheasant subspecies. The differences in the color that you've mentioned might be due to the specific bird having more of the genotype of a specific subspecies. The below link references the original true pheasant subspecies. Though they are the same species, each subspecies has it's own color plumage specific to their original range/region in Asia.

Thanks for the info!!!! very good to know! I am also not in it for $$ I just love birds. I am turning a 5 acre parcel in WA state into a bird sanctuary, surrounded on 2 sides by state land. Again, thanks for the info..........................
