I've plundered around the internet looking for answers but this web site is the best source to be found for information.
My grandma raised chickens and sold eggs to help make ends meet. I always had fun helping her gather the eggs. Maybe that's why I'm starting my own flock of egg bearers.
A friend built a beautiful Colorado Chicken Condo for me and it should support 6 hens nicely - so no, I don't have a big production going here. Just a desire for the freshest eggs for my family. Some day, I will take the final finished picture and post the in-progress series of pics of the condo as it was built. My naughty 9 month old Akita killed two of my precious hens so I just picked up 6 more chicks about 10 days old. I'm just waiting to see what the two remaining 5 month old pullets will do. My next challenges are figuring out how to make the dog play niceand how to introduce the new chicks into the condo coop.
