I took better photos today of the chicken formerly known as Emmylou...now Lou the Roo. Let me know if anyone is interested!

Thanks!

I think we can work something out! Especially if we can "borrow" your stud sometime! We're still kinda new at this too and I can't tell if my girls are preggers. They've been exposed so ... should know within 2 or so months. If not, would love to have a good Nigerian Dwarf or Mini Angora buck to get them going!

Milking a Niggie takes a LOT of practice because their teats are so much smaller than the nubians, and you need to use only a couple of fingers instead of a whole hand. Still... the milk is very high in butterfat, and definitely worth it.

PM me with contact info. Let's talk!

Edited because my arthritis is acting up in this frigid cold/snowing/hailing weather and my fingers hurt so I can't type worth a darn!!

Question for locals:

I need to find a friend for my 14 year old. He's OCD and autistic (developmentally disabled) so he acts around 8-10 years old. Anybody with boys in this area, around that age, who want to come over and play? A little bit about him: he's obsessed with movies, the movie rating system, TV shows, producers, directors ... really, anything having to do with the film media. He also loves books and plays a great game of Uno (cards).

We school at home, and have goats and chickens to play with, plus lots of board and card games. We do gluten-free.

We're in Elbert County. Please pm me. He's so lonely because kids his age don't get him. Thanks.

I understand about that. My youngest is 21, but is severely autistic so is about 3 developmentally. His obsession is Disney movies

I don't know anyone your munchkin's age though. They are either older or much younger.

Hello fellow Coloradoians,

I am officially hooked to chickens and defiantly addicted to BYC.
I will be moving up to Lookout Mountain in Golden, just checked - no problem with having chickens & roosters in unincorporated Jefferson County.
Once we close on the house, we will be transforming our divided dog run into a chicken coop. It's completely enclosed, though one of the two runs on the outside needs to be fixed prior to them going outside. I'll have a few months before this is an issue, there is one side of the run that's ready for them right now. Inside there are two large boxes where the huskies used to cozy up in, we'll take those out, scrub the whole thing to disinfect, then begin to build the nesting boxes and roosts.

I think I have a place lined up, but in case it doesn't work out, anyone know a good LOCAL place to pick up the following chicks: Buff Orpington chicks (+ 1 roo), Rhode Island Reds, and Plymouth Barred Rocks near Golden/Denver?

DJ would probably be a good friend for your son but DJ doesn't know anything about movies or movie rating systems so I don't know that they would really have much to talk about. DJ has fetal alcohol syndrome and he's got several OCD tendencies like KEYS, ventriloquist dummies, CARS, and (of all things) Megan Fox. Oh, Deej is 10. If you decide to come over some time and see the chicken house or green house maybe we can see how they get along together. Deej doesn't have many friends either because of his problems.

The feed store in Golden will be selling chicks in a few more months if you are willing to wait. They are on 10th and Ford. Do you know the place? Nice people there and always very patient and helpful with any questions I have. I bought my buff orps from a lady named Aimee but she lives way out in Deer Trail and its a bit of a hike. Email me if you need help or have questions.
