Colorado

at first I was worried about the frost too (there is ventilation in there). then as I'm walking back to the house I see every piece of wood in the yard is frosted and it has as much ventilation as you can get. so I think it was the moisture in the wood that was freezing. our coop is not insulated so if the outside of the wood freezes the inside would too.
today is much colder here. weather report says -9 right now. I can feel it in the house, I don't want to leave my warm bed!

Hi there! I live in Parker but on some land so I don't have to deal with HOA issues. I don't think the Pinery Glen neighborhood is part of the Pinery (Pinery.org), but it's really hard to see if they have their own HOA. I can't find anything about it. I did find one site you could check out - PineryGlenNeighbors.com They might have some information or be able to direct you to the right place for further information. I do know that there are a handful of neighborhoods in Parker that are entertaining the idea of chickens, but it's kind of tricky now. Some folks are worried about noise, smells, property values, etc… How silly right?? Good Luck. You'll like Parker a lot!

Nice incubator!

Lovely turkey, and what a great sturdy "turkey tree"!

Only got to about 11 degrees here today, going to be another cold one tonight. Wow, 60 degrees! I bet that air off the bay is humid though, and that is one thing we don't have here, humidity! We will have it in the 60's again, but not til may!!!! lol

I can't figure out how an artic blast was blowing from the south??? All our wind this past week has been from the south.........

Is your house located in a low lying area? I wondered if this might be the difference, since the trees were all frosted. Here is what ours looked like this afternoon. We also have a small pond about three hundred feet from the house.

My house right along fountain creek was at -9.8 when i got up this morning. The coop was at 5. Everyone in the coop seemed ok though. I feel bad for my RIR that isnt fully feathered out yet. She has been sleeping in the nesting boxes hunkered down in the straw.

We are right in the middle of a downslope of a hill. All our trees were frosted over also.
Everyone is doing ok. No, signs of frostbite and everyone looks active. :)

I am ready for Tuesday. I have had enough of this freezing weather. I am ready for a warm 32 degree day!
Agreed. But it could be worse. I pulled up Accuweather.com's 30 forecast for Churchill, Manitoba and left it open on a computer at work. People were freaking out when they thought it was the forecast for Colorado Springs and saw every high temp was below zero
