lol. yes it is cold, I haven't seen my chickens in 2 days! They hide in the coop! Snowy and blizzard like today, we just have to muck through a few weeks, then beautiful Colorado spring is here!

I was actually suprised when I got home and the ladies were all out in the run. I took them some nice hot oatmeal and retrieved the second egg of the day.

One advantage of the weather: Ft Carson did an early release so I got home about three hours earlier than normal.

I'm really hoping this weekend's expected "warm" temps in the 50's will show the end of these negative temps. Seriously ... I'm over this!

Tonight mine got some hot rice with beef and ham broth, and a little garlic. Loved it! Nobody wanted to come out of their coops for the last week. Hopefully this weekend?

Spring-i-o, oh Spring-i-o, whereforeart thou?

I'm in Colorado out on the Western Slope, Crawford area to be exact. I inherited my chickens from my son when he went in the Marines a few years ago. Mixed in with the mutts are a few Buff Orpingtons, a Light Brahma, some supposedly colored Leghorns that are slight of build, black, with a white earlobe, and our favorite, Fluff, a Polish Lace hen, who has survived all of the dog attacks and other critters. I am planning on expanding this spring and going into meat birds, both for my own freezer and for customers. It's great to be here!

Glad you are here too! I am also on the Western Slope, near Grand Junction. I live on Glade Park and it is COLD here also.
