Colorado

Welcome Penny Hen. I don't have any fertile eggs I just wanted to welcome you.

Thanks. I am already back in TN but there will be other trips to see my girl in Denver. I will just think ahead and plan better. Maybe I could bring a set of my Olive Egger eggs there too. Of course then you have the altitude difference problem.

Sorry for last message not sure what happened, still learning the boards.

Also I know this isn't chicken related but a few shots from yesterday. I love summer and gardening!

You are making me miss my garden! Since we were selling our house in april/may and moving in June, I didn't get much planted this year. I have a few tomato plants but they are so tiny for this time of year I don't think we'll get anything off of them. I got a couple berries planted but that's about it. Trying to plan for next year.

That picture of the frog reminds me of the sounds we heard last night. Our area is usually very quiet at night but last night it was crazy loud. So unusual that I had to take a video. Our neighbors have a large pond if it rains and all the rain we've had the last couple of days brought the frogs out.

sorry you didn't get a garden this year, it is something I always enjoy despite all the work. Sad story last night, we had our dogs in the garden chilling and my dog chased a toad down and killed him. I had just been talking about the big toad we had in the garden. Oh well, guess that is how it goes sometimes. Too cool about the frogs at the pond.

Had my son over today helping me building coops. he had his 2 dogs with him. One of his dogs is a predator and neither of us noticed in time... It killed a baby bunny and chewed it up pretty bad. I wasn't very happy about it at all.

I told him I'm going to get a center point ground anchor and that dog will have to be on a chain from now on. Can't have that kind of thing with my chickens here.

I wouldn't be happy about that either. I'd be ticked at any dogs that killed something on our land.
Our cat has turned into quite the predator here. Luckily he only goes for little things and could care less about our chickens. He has caught a number of voles since moving here though. Which I'm happy about as long as he doesn't leave anymore in the house!

ah tis the season...my cat left a lovely young rat on the front porch as a gift. I did see it in time to stop the small dogs from going out & grabbing it. Mama Kitty still thinks of the small dogs (Lhasa's) as her babies & brings "food" for them from time to time...yuck!!
The toads can sure make a dog sick ..hope yours did not munch a bunch on the toad!!
Dogs running loose are one reason I keep even my ducks & geese up at night. My neighbors found out that Colorado is "fence out..not fence in"..due to open range laws. So he has no problem letting his dogs run loose to chase whatever they can.
