Thanks for the advice, budget is about $2K or so. I've been watching CL but the nicer ones I've found weigh several hundred lbs and will be way to heavy for my wife and I to move.

The 8x8 shed from Home Depot is looking like a good option. I saw some 'finish yourself' sheds at the Home Depot in Parker but I'm not seeing them on the TuffShed web site. We plan on about a 20x20 run for them that we'll build ourselves and we'll free range when appropriate.

There are some good deals on CL right now. Moving it can be problematic. There are (were) people advertising shed moving in the service and farm sections. You can also hire a tow company to move it if it's built on a skid. Some shed builders will also move and set up one.
A shed and tuff shed both have cute sheds that look like overgrown play houses that would make a coop with lots of personality.

Greetings from Berthoud. I bought one of HD's largest sheds and priciest sheds when I moved here. They put it up in two days and two years later, I still love it: it is for me, not my chickens. If you go this route, start early. The HD in Loveland took MONTHS to fulfill my order.

Look around on BYC for plans and ideas. Some people here have years of experience with coops and chickens here and their advice is invaluable. You could check out ads for carpenters and handymen. If you have plans, you could post ads for help wanted. Myself? I like hoop coops. I design mine and have a friend in construction help me build them to my specifications. If I knew someone in your area, I would direct you to him as this way has worked for me. Good luck and happy researching.

Pretty egg, congrats!
Just moved to Castle Rock and we're looking to start a flock in the spring. We're trying to find a builder for a coop for 10 - 20 chickens or a nice used coop that can be moved relatively easily. Any ideas? Anyone have experience with Theshedyard? They seems to be nice when we've looked at them at their dealers. We have too much other stuff going to to spend the time building our own at the moment. Thanks in advance.
do you have building skills? A hoop coop is easy to set up and are more easily moved than others...

Hi there.

I've built many coops for people. Mine are pricey, start at $700 for simplest and with all electronics, most sell for are $1800.

A client gave me a huge shipping crate and I'm just so busy, I don't have time to convert it to something.

The crate is 8x4x3. It is very well made and good plywood was used. It's probably 150 lbs and requires a full size truck to haul.

I'd give it away to someone that could use it.

Hey gang, so I will be doing an experiment with an aquarium heater using it in my ferment buckets, in the garage. So here is my plan to get this going for next week, I will post pics of the process and outcome.

Here is the deal, since moving to Englewood, I have been wanting to get a ferment station going. I don't ferment in the winter in Boulder, as I have no where to ferment inside and nowhere to do it outside without the buckets freezing. Here is the heater we have just laying around, it is programmable to temps between 65-80, I plan to drop it in my bucket for fermenting....

I have a shed coop with two runs. One on either side. It started off a tuff shed that i found on craigslist. The walls on the front left and right are removeable for the summer. This is a nice way to go to get something up and going quickly. I will post up a picture later this afternnoon so you can see what i am talking about. I thought i had a picture of it on my phone but i was wrong.
