I would love to have a couple of black copper marans. Maybe a roo and two hens. I have plenty of blue egg layers and would like the olive eggers for the next generation. This is where the black copper maran roo would come in.
My wife told me that she wants a blue laced red Wyandotte. That should be a hard one to find.

So I am just curious what people are wanting to hatch this spring? I have a couple on my list that I would like to hatch....Blue Wheatens, Easter Eggers and Black Copper Maran. I for once can't say that I need any more birds but really like how the Blue Wheaten's look.

I was hoping to try hatching my own mixes again, but for "wish list" breeds, I'm pretty enamoured with the Silkies, Sumatra, Sultans, OhIki, bantam Phoenix, Polish, Dwarf Olandsk, Ayam Cemani, blue d'Anvers. The Black Copper Maran really caught my eye when I was looking for darker coloured breeds. I'm also pretty partial to anything "blue". Coloured eggs would be awesome to have. I think the Red Laced Blue Wyandottes are really pretty @samsr.

Love the Blue Wheaten Ameraucana's too. I am sticking to the program and not adding another breed (yeah right)! I will be hatching white Marans, and my MF Bantam Cochins. I may do another project if the stars align, but really don't have the room. I am at three coops, with another in the making! Yikes!

I have the same issue LOL

I'm so sorry about your little Sebright. I was worried about keeping mine by himself when I was finally told what breed he was because I had read they aren't cold tolerant. I'm kinda glad he's a he because I measure what I'm going to see in the coop by him crowing every morning. Doesn't really help gage with everyone else that doesn't crow, unfortunately.

I was thinking of trying to go to the poultry show at SS this year, but I'm still not sure how well I do in crowds because of my brain injury.

I love your blog! I struggled with crowds all my life............now I just pick and choose where and which ones without the major issues but work oh work to get even that far. Years.

IMHO this weather etc could be causing issues with all our birds acting out. Mine have never acted this way and then add to the fun, or rather exhuastion..............the dogs have been acting out and getting into things. Have had the main instigator for years and no issues..................now to do a self check on my own acting out...........

Thank you. :) Social anxiety isn't fun. I had that for awhile before PTSD pushed it into agoraphobia. I can't do crowds now due to a traumatic brain injury - too much audio/visual stimulation makes me physically ill & unable to function for anywhere between an hour or two to days, depending on how much overstimulation I have.

It's been pretty quiet for my flocks. Odysseus has started to get a little chippy with me due to being cooped up & my pullets keep going broody, but I haven't been having the issues everyone else seems to be having lately. I guess all my bad luck sticks with me & hasnt spread out to any of my animals. Hope things settle down soon for everyone.

Thank you.

It's not fun and yes, been down the PTSD road, couldn't leave the house to take out the trash on some days and was on a dirt road on 80 acres! It's better now, started about 4 years old etc. First memory of running away from a crowd. What fun lol. Taken many, many years of work to be able to handle some things now. There is hope, just lots of work and slow, baby steps.

Sorry I didn't answer soon. Been pouring over the web in hopes of finding some Oxine AH locally till mine gets here. Some of my flock have a respiratory thing going on........treating them but want the coops sterile. Literally. I guess theres no local source from what I am finding..........much work to get done in cleaning till it gets here:( I can't believe there's not a local source for it. The thought of bleaching everything and trying to dry it out vs fogging in this cold weather isn't a pleasant thought. Been a bit of a bear to be around lol

Cold morning here at 6 degrees out.
Lost the old leghorn yesterday evening. It was an attack from the old wyandotte. Makes me mad at her but madder at myself for not separating them before it was to late. The old wyandotte has had an attitude issue her whole life.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Cold and foggy here... has been since last night. Trees have a nice winter ice coat which makes things rather pretty. No wind to speak of, so no broken limbs yet. Sorry you lost your old hen 21. Don't you just hate bullies? Sorry some folks are having issues with their birds. Mine are just what they are and have been, no real differences... Kudos to those who can keep building additional coops... I have 2 and that's plenty. No need or real desire for more coops or chickens. OK, maybe just one more coop. Would like to maybe make a hoop coop and get a few turkeys. Not gonna happen yet though as I plan to move this summer. Enjoy your day. Buy a lottery ticket and hope to become a billionaire on Wednesday evening.

Hmm, up until this last snow my birds have been undaunted by the weather; they can and do leave their coops but are now making themselves scarce. It's funny, sonshine, that you should be thinking of sterilizing your coop right now. I say funny because just yesterday I had the very bright idea of ozonating a couple of my coops; this is a brand new idea, one I've not had before. Has anybody ever tried this? I know that motels ozonate their rooms after a guest leaves and that it is a very effective way of eliminating odors. Of course I can't try this until everybird can leave and stay out of the coop for a few hours, but it might be a thought to keep in mind for later. One of my friends nebulizes her pets for respiratory stuff.

I am sorry to learn that you and Uzi have agoraphobia? - but I am happy to learn I am not the only one who dislikes crowds. Being deaf is a little like PTSD in that it is profoundly isolating; most people don't understand and withhold their acceptance and approval. Animals don't mind, though, and neither do some people in some forums. Stay warm. What is oxine AH?
