Colorado

Hello all you Colorado denizens! I'm in Colorado Springs (OCC) and specifically bought a house here because I knew there were no covenants and chickens wouldn't be a problem! I also just love being here on the West Side! I know there's at least a few other chicken owners in the neighborhood here. I wonder how many are on BYC? Last year there was a chicken coop tour in the area. If there's ever another one, maybe my little coop will be one of the stops.

I've found my neighbors to be really easy going about the idea of chickens. I won't have any trouble finding takers for my eggs when the time comes! My neighbor behind me is thinking about getting ducks, so maybe I can trade some chicken eggs for duck eggs some time. People over here (in general) are so relaxed. It's really nice. (Not that there aren't other areas of the Springs that are just as friendly!) The postal carrier folks ask me how the chicks are doing, because they all knew when I ordered them and they arrived! Yup- this is a good place to be if you want to raise chickens!

And, as for the ignorant out there about chickens... well I guess there have to be some people who open their mouths and display how foolish they are. But if chickens are leading us to anarchy, then I'll gladly call myself an anarchist before I get rid of my chicks!

Welcome!

Wow! I'd never seen or heard of those before. I should buy some for my Mom - she can't peel hard-boiled eggs, either. I have no idea where I learned to do it - 'cause it wasn't from her!!

Have you checked out all the BYC threads on peeling hard-boilded eggs?

roristix!

I think we should all email these people and help to educate them about chickens. The idea of showing them where their chicken and eggs come from as compared to a backyard flock is great! A huge email response is likely to get their attention!
It always amazes me that the people with the least information are the loudest at spreading their uneducated opinions..

Gail I have read all the peeling posts but it doesn't work more than it works for me. I thought these might be just what I've been needing

I saw the ad on t.v. and looked up the website.

Holy crap! I just heard about the new chicken ordinance here in Denver. I've been waiting years for this. My girls can come out of hiding finally! This city surprises me sometimes. I wrote letters to several of our city council members and they were all so skeptical. I had almost given up hope. Time to put some more money in the coop now that I don't have to worry about it being shut down by our animal hating neighbor.

Cheers everyone for this victory
