Colorado

That is all I needed to know lol. I see chicken math at work for me. (If you get six hens in the spring how many hens will you have in the fall?) I am lucky enough to have a large yard and plenty of room to add a couple more.
Thank you for replying.
The city workers were rather baffled with my question.

I thought it was a simple enough question.
I do ever so enjoy having the chickens in my yard. (DH may think I am nuts and my son, age 24 may want to have me committed but I have seen them both out there watching the hens.

Thank you Coopa.
I will have to look at it on my sons computer. Mine locks up with anything adobe.

To be on the safe side, be sure and check your HOA and zoning regs - they can trump the city ordinances.

No HOA here. I made sure of that when I bought the house lol. I sure did not want to be paying someone to tell me what color I can paint my house or what kind of shingles I can have.

As far as zoning we are listed as residential and since they are listed as pets I am sure we are fine. About 5 houses on my side of the street have chickens that I know of and I am sure there are others in the area.

Thank you again Coopa. I have read a lot of threads you have posted in and always good sound advice for people.

We have 1/4 acre and there is an alley behind the house. I built my run well within the fence line, 10 feet from the back fence and 6 or 7 feet from the side fence so as to keep my flower beds intact. I also did not want anyone tempted to poke at the hens through the fence.

When I bought the house 11 years ago hens were a no no so I rehomed the 28 BA I had and the assorted banties. I missed having them so much that when one of our neighbors got hens I knew I had to check into it and begin again. It is much different being in town and worrying about annoying the neighbors or zoning regs.

So far everyone that knows we have hens has had to come see. No complaints from the anyone on the look or function of the coop and run. SOOOO glad I made the run 200 sq ft.

Welcome to all the new CO BYCers!
I have 3 cochin pullets available locally. $10 each. THey hatched in May 2011. 2 are mille fleur split (mille & mottled) and one is pure mottled. Best suited for pets rather than show. If interested in them, I can meet at the Golden Feed Mill in Golden, CO. Just too hot to try shipping anywhere. Best to email me rather than PM
