This is only my opinion, but I don't think that if you are burying wire fencing, that 6" deep is deep enough. My dogs have dug deeper to get at lizards.

Dang, I really want to be done digging this year! :hit

We do have a bunch of spare pavers we dug up from another area in the yard. If I line the run with those will it be enough? We have regular bricks and a bunch of 12x12" stones. Are your turkeys nice to people? The only memory I have of turkeys (besides dinner) is a real nasty one biting my little sister at a petting zoo.

It's really smoky here today. I hope everyone is okay up north. Is anyone going to the chicken swap? I need another dang chicken like I need a hole in the head and don't really want to drive all the way up there just to be a looker, but I do love staring at some handsome birds :cd

With the pavers it might be sufficient. Depends on your predators, and how determined they are.

This is the first time for us with turkeys, but so far they are fine. The female is more docile than the male, but for my that's OK, I don't want a full grown turkey running up and jumping on our laps! Ours are Narragansett turkeys.

Hey Friendly Colorado Folks,

Anyone know of hatching eggs in the area? I've got a golden-lace wyandotte (Maude) who has just gone broody and she's driving me NUTS! Who knew a chicken could be so loud? Instead of trying to break the broodiness, I thought I'd put her to work!

Before I get some eggs FedEx'd in I thought I'd try and go local first. I'd be glad to drive within two-three hours of Denver this weekend if I could find some....

Thanks much if you have any info!

I can gather some for you. I have a white frizzle cochin roo in with my wyandottes , americaunas, and a few other egg layers. I hatched out some earlier for fun and now I just gather them up and put some of my purebred eggs under any broody hens. I live in South Fort Collins if you are interested. Not sure if you wanted purebreds or not but these are all egg laying hens.

That would be so great! It's more of an experiment for me than anything else - I've never done this before. Purebreds not required.

I'll send you a PM to get further information.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
