Colorado

what a booger! lol.

where did you get your meal worms? i can't find live ones around here at all!

I have a meal worm farm! I bought 3000 online last summer (maybe $30) and now have tons and tons (however right now they are very small, 3rd generation babies!)!

My happy news? Baby chicks heading my way! Should in the mail in just a few hours and here in 2-3 days. :D

Hi all,
I can't believe the fire tonight, I evacuated as the fire raced down the mountain. It took me an hour and a half to drive from mountain shadows to Stetson hills. It was soo unreal, so glad I got my chicks out two days ago. I have no idea if my house is still there, I am still in shock.

I am SO sorry you had to evacuate! I hope your house has been spared. I'm glad you planned ahead and moved your babies early!

does anyone know where i can find a map of the active wildfires? I have tons of friends and family calling me because they don't understand the area i live in. I want to post it on FB so they get a better picture of my area compared to all the fires.

All the active fires in the nation can be found here....this link will take you directly to the Colorado Fires. There is a Google earth window with an overlay of the fire....so you can zoom in and out and cruise the state looking at the different fires and their locations.

Wow! what a night. And it continues. A sobering time.

I will be getting some of my incomplete pens done (or at least usable) over the next couple of days and will be able to accomodate additional flocks from anyone in the Springs area who has been displaced. Each of my small pens can handle up to 5 birds, and I will have four of those available.

As we watched the fires spread rapidly yesterday afternoon and evening, our thoughts and prayers went out, and still go out, to those who were/are fighting the fires, and to those who have possibly lost their homes.

We dragged our fire line yesterday afternoon just as a precaution, we are along way from the current fires, but decided to be prepared in case a grass fire pops up in our area.
We will clear our secondary lines today, at least that was the direction I gave my sons last night.....

Our back yard is fenced, and although with our guests from out of town have taken up the spare room, we can accompdate many tents with some wind protection if it comes to that.

Those who have been displaced, please check in regularly so we know what your status is.

glad you're safe!

My inlaws don't know about their house either right now. They're up by the high park fire though.

I hope you get some rain soon!
