When the pullets first start to lay, sometimes it catches them by surprise and they'll just lay on the spot. So for awhile you may find them around the run or the coop

Or in my case I've currently got 10 of my nests filled with broody hens and 2 of those have doubled up and the other 2 nests I keep kicking girls out who want to go broody. I was so excited back in February when my little Cochin Bantam went broody but since then I've had no less than 10 girls at the same time. I'm sooooooooo over broodies

Does anyone know if the Big R in Falcon has DE? Gotta make a run for Sweet PDZ, and it would be nice if I could pick up some DE at the same time.
Thanks

I'm not sure about the DE but suspect Falcon Feed behind does. They often have the things that Big R doesn't have. They even had wazine, poultry powder and I personally think a better selection of feed. I bought my 50# bag of DE from AzureStandard. Now they sell if for $18.75. They do a drop to Falcon once a month.

A couple of weeks ago I drove to Pueblo to Sweeny's feed. They are about $1.50 per bag cheaper than the Big R in Widefield. It costs me about $8.00 (current gasoline prices) to drive there and back. If I picked up 6 bags of feed while there, I break even, but I would have to buy more than 6 bags of feed to make it worth it. Though I hate paying Big R's price, it is still cheaper for me to stop there on the way home from work than to drive to Pueblo. Maybe with the slight drop in gasoline prices, we could see a feed price drop? Maybe? Should I hold my breath? NOT!

Of course If I was already in the Pueblo area, say attending a BBQ at Joe's place, then I could stop on the way and save money.......

Hey! I'm all for a round up! I could get some orders together ..keep everything at my place and when Ya'll need to do a pick-up we could set up a meet!! I found a local farmer that sells corn at 60% less than the feed mill. (For my pigs) I'm still looking to get cheaper chicken feed too.

And I have a 1 ton!! So I can haul a bunch. Ya'll let me know what you use and I'll check on some bulk pricing if it's available.

In fact... I'll start: Just copy and paste................
