Colorado

Good suggestions, thanks!  I reserved the two domain names and will set it up so whichever is typed in points to the website.  I will get to work this weekend creating the site.  If anyone else here is more of a wiz than me I welcome assistance in setup.

Wendell, I really need to get a visit to your place nailed down - work has been kind of turbulent the last several weeks, between all the break-ins and new boss (and new boss not coming back to work today as expected), end of year activities, and then personal stuff like my newly 21-year-old deciding he wants to come home for the weekend :)  You have had your own things too (how did the MRI go?)

One day next week or two I need to get there.

Are you/is anyone planning a trip to the Stock Show on the 21st?  Apparently that is the day of the Poultry Show, believe Shylee will be there, and I'm hoping to get there for the day.  We shall see how the new year opens I guess.

i thought poultry was on the 20th?

id be willing to help set up the website, ive got a pretty good bit of experience, including my own site.

I think the website is a wonderful idea. It would be a great place for people not sure about chickens to ask questions too.

Wendell, I only had one come out with the dot on its head but the legs are feathered. I only incubated the one little egg and I am having connection issues tonight on my phone so can't upload like I had planned. She looks somewhat like all the others but she had more yellow to her belly and on the tips of her wings.

Lees, I agree with the consensus that your 4 will do fine. I have always been told that to go heat less, you should have at least 6. I suspect that is why most ordinances allow 6 hens. Just remember, the most important thing is to make sure there are no drafts.

Thanks! I wrapped the wire part of the coop with a large blanket, but the box and roost are not. I moved the coop earlier this fall to butt up against the house, I think heat radiates from the house, plus they will huddle. I think it will be ok. Knowing me I'll check on them 10 times before bed. Haha.

I have read both, so I emailed Cara Smith and she said it was the 21st. I think the 20th there will be chickens there, and that might be the showmanship or youth day? Or else Cara was mistaken, I have no idea LOL - I was hoping it was the 20th because it's easier to get there on a Sunday than a Monday. I guess in the next couple of weeks I'll double check the date.

Pozees,
I understand busy. My schedule it pretty much the same all the time. I am usually home by around 2:30 each weekday afternoon, with trips to the blood clinic for Beth on monday afternoons. Just call, text, PM, etc and let me know when you might want to stop by. We don't know if chemo will continue...Beth's bone scan indicated more/larger bone tumors, and we will have the CT results by Monday morning, we hope. At that point we will know whether chemo continues or not. She can do radiation on the pelvic bone tumors, but they will only do that as a treatment for pain.

Right now I don't have plans to go to the Stock show.

Tomorrow morning I will be getting a load of the free wood chips/mulch from the city of Colorado Springs. They have a self serve station just off I-25 and Fonanero (I think that's the street) Both of the huge bins are overfluowing as of yesterday afternoon. We will be using the chips in the flock management area to control dust and mud. We may put some into the chicken yard for them to scratch through.

With the feathered legs, the sex link trait probably didn't pass on. It will be interesting to see though.

sweet! i always get my mulch from black forrest where it is also free. but they aren't back in business until next spring. It took 10 truckloads, 20 scoops, to do my run area. Sadly, most of it has already been either blown away or degraded. But when the price is free....it's totally worth it.
