You guys, I'm so disappointed! I got my order today of modern game bantams and my 2 black east indie ducks, and only 2 of the 7 bantams have normal legs. The rest all have curled toes and one can't even stand up because it's legs are tucked in and curled. I knew they weren't SQ, but I thought they would at least be "normal"! I have heard nothing but good things about these guys so I'm super bummed. Not to mention the chicks/ducklings were presents for my hubbies birthday. At least the ducklings are good. And the 10 other WARMING MALES are fine, lol. I don't even know the breeds of the warming males. They are like orangy color though.

So disappointed.......
That's disappointing. Can you say where you ordered them from?

Oh yea, I meant to, forgot. I got them from Ideal Poultry, that's the other thing, I've heard nothing but good things about them on this forum so I was expecting at least normal chicks. I'm in the process of emailing them right now, I don't expect new chicks but as long as they know about this maybe they can prevent it for someone else. I hate having bad first experiences from people, it just ruins things for future orders for me, at least from them anyway. I hope this is just a fluke thing for them.
I have the one chick that can't stand up in band-aid splints, but it doesn't seem like it's working. I'm just hoping he/she makes it through the night at this point.

Wow. I had never heard anything but good things from Ideal. Hope the chicks pull through ok. Is there some way to help straighten their legs and toes?

some advice here. http://www.homesteadingtoday.com/livestock-forums/poultry/473560-chick-curled-toes.html also explains what it is.

this is where i started out. we got our first flock from them. i am at a tos-up now, i can ether get mystery meet from big R or find someone to buy from. i don't want a flock of all of the same breed but i want to know which breeds we are getting.  is there a different store other the Elizabeth county coner store?

If your in Co Springs, I'm going to get 8 chicks from the Elizabeth country corner on mar 1 or 2 and I wouldn't mind picking up some chicks for you and bringing them back. They have a really nice selection. Offer goes for any one else too. Make sure you get your preorders in so you get the chicks you want. My order is for the Mar 1 chicks available on their website so you would have to pick what's available that week. Their website is elizabethcountrycorner.com. They have everything that's available listed there.

I've had a total of about 100 chicks from them and only two have had feet/leg issues and one with a crooked beak. The first was just crooked toes. They're really good about making things right. With my last order (they're about 3 weeks old now) I think the box was given too much ventilation so we had 11 deaths (out of 50 bantams), and they were really great about shipping more and making sure I was happy.

Were they all the same breed?
