Colorado

I expect them Tuesday morning. Dennarahl already has been raising bantams for me, which I need to get picked up, too, unless she's fallen hopelessly in love with them LOL. Bob thought he would get the floor done today but discovered two 12' floor joists had been shaved down to less than 5" (2x6 joists, which usually actually measure 5.5") so he spent some time rearranging attachment to the skids adding cedar fence pickets between the joists and skids in the two spots that were low, so it isn't done yet, but I am working from home tomorrow morning doing month end close and then should be able to get to work on the shed mid to late morning. With both of us here it should go faster, as long as we don't keep running into more problems.

I candled the Silkie eggs in the incubator, and of the 24 she sent, 11 appear to be viable, the rest are either duds or quitters, so tomorrow I'll remove the ones I'm sure aren't going to hatch. If the 11 that look good all hatch I'll be satisfied. Neither of the two Paint eggs are good, but a few each of the Lavenders, Buffs, and Porcelain and I think a Blue Splash and a White. I think. I knew I should have written it down. I will tomorrow when I take the hopeless ones out.

I am really looking forward to having chicks again. I have a couple projects at work and it's been really hard to focus on them the last week or so, all I can think about is chicks and the shed LOL. Once the shed is done and the first group of chicks arrives, and the ones in the 'bator hatch, I'll be able to focus a little better I think. Of course all I'll want to do then is sit out in the shed and stare at the chicks

The shed not getting here on time and giving us fits getting built has been the biggest problem.

I think I've been doing a pretty good job not getting too attached. I was only going to keep one or two of the assorted babies and sell the rest of mine, and so far only three have wormed their way into my heart. There is Graybie, Flipper and muffin. I have no idea what the three of them are but they're all very sweet. Sending you a pm about the babies...

chlskt, Is true, at least you tried to help the little one out.

Adam and JenHenny, Yes, both Elizabeth Feed and Kiowa Feed are owned by the same person. I am impressed with Elizabeth chicks too, as nice as the ones at Bir R, I mean for Hatchery chicks, they are healthy and lively! Probably not SOP, but still nice laying hens. And with the Elizabeth feed chicks you know what you are getting.

Pozee, It will come together, doesn;t help that everything with the shed was late or not what you ordered! Stay on track, you will get there!

Welcome to all the new people!

Sound cute! Are any of them feather legged? I might be interested in a couple hens? Or will you be selling them as SR? Or keeping them?
A large amount of them are feather legged. I have no idea what most of them are for sure, but there are definitely some silkies. The only other possibilities that have feather feet are brahma, cochin, d'uccle, and sultans. They'll definitely be sold straight run as they're still (generally) too little to tell. There are a few that I think are obvious boys, based solely on super agressive behaviors and posturing. If all goes well on Saturday, I'll probably order and sell some more, but probably pullet mixes instead of s/r.

Well, lost a duckling and another bantam over night. This stinks! There's a few others that don't look so hot either, it's not looking good. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
