does anyone raise mealworms? i found a bucket of them at lowes but i was wondering about the raising them.

i have a mealworm farm! basically buy live mealworms, put them in a plastic tub with chicken crumbles and sliced potatoes for water. Eventually they grow into beatles and mate producing new larvae. If they are kept above 70 degrees they reproduce faster. Mine have lived in my cold basement all winter but are still fine. I tend to forget to replace the potato and the beatles will die without water eventually. DH is pretty disgusted by them

When feeding to chicks, may sure they have grit to aid in their digestion.

Ok I posted on another thread earlier and I want to see what you guys think about my two, 7 week old golden laced Wyandottes. I think one may be a roo. :( what do you think? Chick #1 is the one in question

We're they sold as all pullets or straight run? I do know some of the hatcheries are better than others at sexing. Many of the feed stores buy from Pritchett (I think that's how they spell it). Everyone I know that's bought chicks from stores that purchase from Pritchett get at least 1 roo out of every 4 they buy. And they're supposed to be all pullets.
