Oh, I'm so sorry. Everyone seems to work so hard when hatching these gals and then this happens. Heartbreaking. What a scene to awaken to.Made the test run with my new incubator, a Genesis 1588. I set 44 eggs. They started hatching this afternoon. I went to bed this morning at midnight with 19 hatched and many more pipped and unzipping and awoke at 3 to the sound of silence. I went and checked on them and they were all cooked. Dead. Every last one of them. The incubator thermometer read 67 degrees. I removed the chicks, when I replaced the lid, it read 105.
Counting the dead and pips, I would have had 39/44 hatch. I'm devastated. A part of me is afraid to exchange it for another one out of fear that I might get another defective unit from the same lot. :-( It seems like this defect is not entirely uncommon. Anybody have any advice?

Snow. Again. Since it was barely snowing, the hens all trooped out the door I opened for them since I had spread a tarp to keep an area snowfree, but they all went over to the clear land, pecked a minute, then all trooped right back in. I hate when they're in, poor 'almost-got-a-tail grown' really suffers. I went out to spread some goodies under their straw and she was bleeding again in spite of fresh Peck No More...I gooped her up good AGAIN with PNM after staunching the bleeding spot. Maybe they'll leave her alone. She's so close to having a tail, when all these porcupine quills sprout, she'll have good coverage if she can keep these feathers til then.
I tarped the whole 8x10 run area so they have a nice dry space to dust bathe and peck about, plus they have their cozy coop, plus under their coops, there should be plenty of room so they can spread out and leave each other alone.
We were just about snow free. The last of the permafrost spots had disappeared yesterday. It was glorious.
Now it's coming down hard.
Everyone else in Colorado getting this or are we in the northern areas the only 'lucky' ones?
Yes, I have one frizzled in that pen, did you end up with a frizzled?? Cold here too, no snow..... yet! Did see it is in the forecast.OMG how devastating! I would be ticked! I hope they compensate you for your losses. I would be so gun shy after that!Made the test run with my new incubator, a Genesis 1588. I set 44 eggs. They started hatching this afternoon. It's freezing cold here but no snow yet. We had to sit outside and watch my daughter ride for an hour this morning and we were all frozen by the end of it. Suncatcher... do you have any frizzled cochins in your MF project?Snow. Again.
