Hi all! Hope no one here was affected by that fire in Boulder county yesterday.
I have fertilized mutt chicken eggs if anyone ever wants any. I have two roos (one Gold-laced Wyandotte and one Partridge Silky). You can see in my signature line the rest of my chickens so you can guess what the mixes might be.
Chirp, those would be fun to throw in the bator to see what comes out
I would love to get one but I really don't want to deal with finding homes for the little roos that would undoubtedly be in the majority of the newly hatched. I already have too many running around that I can't get rid of
My son lives in the springs, and is thinking of buying a house, He now lives in Peterson, and I suggested he buy a place where he could have chickens for the kids, Needless to say he was out raged about me suggesting something like that, told him he needed some space for a garden to. Kids!!!!
Cheers All;
I to live in Colorado. I am new to the backyard chicken thing( 4 weeks w/ pullets), but I totally dig it. Mrs. Howell the white leghorn is the only one laying now, but the 2 BA's( Ginger and Mary-Ann) have finished their molt and should be laying soon. All three came from a battery cage situation here in Denver. I have been "learning" up on BYC for about 4 months now and I find this site extremely useful. I got into this for the eggs and manure for my garden. To me growing your my food and living a sustainable lifestyle holds a great appeal. So far the most amazing thing I have observed is that chickens have very keen eyesight!!!! and along with that the funniest was when Ginger found a worm and Mrs Howell and Mary-Ann chased her all over trying to get her prize, I swear I almost peed myself. Here is a pic of the coop/tractor I had built. It was an X-mas present from me to me
I have the very good fortune to have some really amazing/cool/understanding liberal minded neighbors.
I have lubed the wheels of diplomacy heavily with gifts of produce/honey/gourmet mushrooms/worm casings and soon eggs
