Colorado

Welcome High Mountain Chic. I'm in Buena Vista so we are almost neighbors. I've ordered from both McMurry and from Ideal in the past. I didn't have any problems with either. The worst is waiting until it is warm enough around here. Everyone else is getting chicks and it is still snowing here.

My survey is from a grad student in Fort Collins studying epidemics nad and disease control. I didn't go to the state fair, so they didn't get my name from there. I'm sure not how they got my name. I have ordered chicks from McMurry and Ideal, but not for several years. They are basically asking all about how you run your operation and if you move chickens to other places, etc. I just wondered what everyone that got a survey thought of it? I think Lone Cowboy was talking about the NAIS, but I wonder if the information is somehow connected.

I think they're asking questions that are a little too personal and it's really none of their business. Who know's where your info will go and into whose hands. Not worth it. JMO

I can just some some gooberment dork showing up at my house a month later for a sudden inspection.

How about answering the survey, "None of your darn business Mr. Nosey Pants!"

Anyone putting in a duckling order?

How about hatching next week?

Got an extra khaki hen?

I have 2 issues going on right now...

Issue 1 - my test batch of duck eggs in my homemade incubator has 1 viable egg left. It is due to hatch next week and so far doing well. I don't want an "only child". I want to get it a buddy or two....so I need a few ducklings. This egg is either half runner, half khaki or pure bred khaki.

Issue 2 - Janet, my khaki hen, passed away last night. Jack only has 2 girls left now and he doesn't even like one of them. We think Janet's leg injury was due to Jack "favoring" her. A LOT! And now he is favoring the buff, Lana. I don't want her worn out too!!! I want another khaki hen for my rather amorous drake. If not a khaki, any other good egg layer would work....a runner....a Welsh Harlequin...you get the idea.

If you can help, please PM me prices, breeds, etc...

Thanks!

Linda

Anyone else enjoying the beautifu weather we have?? I spent all day out side cleaning yard. The silkies were out in the front yard with me while i did that, and a lady I'd met online stopped by and bought herself three of those. And then I went to the store for some sand and am working on building a dusting box outside for them...in their "playground area" vs in their runs.

Zilla so sorry to hear about your girl. Tell that boy to chill out!!!

It would be a nice day if it weren't so dern windy up here. TIRED of the wind. I'd rather have the cool rainy day than a windy day.
